What is EN domain?

ENS is a decentralized domain name registry for assigning human-readable addresses to Ethereum wallets and smart contracts. ENS domains not only make it easier to identify a wallet or smart contract on the Ethereum blockchain, but they can also be used as links to decentralized webpages.

What are the components of ENS?

ENS has two principal components: the registry, and resolvers. The ENS registry consists of a single smart contract that maintains a list of all domains and subdomains, and stores three critical pieces of information about each: The owner of a domain may be either an external account (a user) or a smart contract.

What is Ethereum Name Service (ENS)?

The Ethereum Name Service (ENS) makes crypto wallet and smart contract addresses easier to read, remember, and navigate to. Anyone with enough ETH in their wallet can use the ENS dApp to register a .eth address of their very own. The ENS protocol uses a very straightforward mechanism to register .eth domains.

How long do en domains last?

However, you can secure your ENS domain for many years and only pay the gas fee once, during registration. Another interesting aspect is that anyone can extend the registration of your ENS domain, but this doesn’t give ownership over your domain. Unstoppable Domains need to be registered only once, and there is no expiration date for your domain.
